Call for Scholarships

Administrative and Academic Staff
About REFORM

REFORM is a partnership of five African Universities in Eastern, Western Africa lead by Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar in Senegal. The members of this partnership are Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (Senegal), Makerere University (Uganda), Uganda Martyrs University (Uganda), University of Abomey Calavi (Benin), Mzuzu University (Malawi) and Eduardo Mondlane University (Mozambique).  The partnership also has Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Sweden) as a technical partner and Regional

 University forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture – RUFORUM as an Associate partner. Through funding from EU under Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme, the partnership will collaborate in the training of professionals to strengthen fragile ecosystems (FE) management in Africa, which will lead into reduced environmental degradation and sustained food production by small-scale farmers.

A total of 23 Masters and 11 Doctorates will be trained in the thematic areas of Agroforestry, Ecology and Adaptation; Taxonomy, Biodiversity, Ethnobotany and Natural Resources Conservation and Valorization; Agro-Ecology and Food Systems; Forest, Ecosystem, Environment and Natural Resource Management.

The project is expected to contribute to a) establishing regional learning platform for improved fragile ecosystem management (FEM); b) internationalizing and harmonizing of training in FEM, c) enhancing skills of University administrative staff to manage mobility, d) improving training skills of academic staff of targeted Universities and e) training of high caliber professionals in FE management.

Objectives

The project is expected to contribute to:

  • Establishing regional learning platform for improved fragile ecosystem management (FEM);
  • Internationalizing and harmonizing of training in FEM,
  • Enhancing skills of University administrative staff to manage mobility,
  • Improving training skills of academic staff of targeted Universities and
  • Training of high caliber professionals in FE management.

 

Quality
    • Contributing to the improvement of the quality of higher education
    • Fostering institutional cooperation to facilitate the recognition of studies and qualifications
    • Addressing the identified needs and constraints of the target countries
    • Improving the skills and competencies of students and staff members
    • Contribution to the programme’s objectives and to the policy priorities of environment and climate change.

 

    • Involvement of HEIs which have not yet benefited from or had a limited participation in similar partnerships/collaboration
    • Added value and complementarity of the proposal in comparison to an on-going project.

The Call for applications is open from 15th August 2021 and will close on 30th September 2021.

”For this new call of application, the project will provide  short term mobility fellowships for Administrative and Academic staff.”

  • Application for scholarship should be sent to the project coordinating office with a copy to the coordinator at the sending institution.

The scholarships are open to candidates from Target group 1 (Senegal, Uganda, Benin, Malawi, Mozambique) and Target group 2 (other African countries).

Please note that candidates will only be allowed to apply to institution outside of their home countries. Female and candidates with disabilities are particularly encouraged to apply.

Selection of the students to benefit from the REFORM project will be done centrally by the project management team which is constituted by the representatives of the partner institutions.

The project coordinator will be responsible for initiating the process of setting-up such a committee in conformity with the policies and procedures of the hosting and sending institutions.
